When you think about your own attitude how would you describe yours? Would you say you are a glass half full person or a glass half empty person? If you have a friend who is positive about life and the people they are around, ask yourself do you like to be in their company? Do you leave that person with a good feeling? Now, think about another friend who is a ‘Negative Nelly.” Do you enjoy being with them? How do you feel after a meeting or lunch with this friend?
Which friend would you most like to emulate? When others think of you, how do you want them to categorize you?
Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you are absolutely right.” This is a very powerful statement, Ford is suggesting that your failure or success is up to you. I believe he may be exactly right!
If you find yourself in a conversation with a successful person you will almost find every single one of them wanted to give up because they were turned down so many times. Here are a few of those names that didn’t give up when they were turned down:
Walt Disney
Stephen King
Oprah Winfrey
JK Rowling
Bill Gates
Colonel Harlan Sanders
The reason people who fail are able to get back up and try again until they find success is their attitude. Most failed not once but a few times. People who have a positive attitude seem to learn from experience and try again. They also tend to be able to evaluate what went well and where they needed to make changes the next time. They look at their plans objectively and they don’t let failure stop them from trying again.
Depending on your goals, you should think about where you are and set realistic goals. Keeping a positive attitude is much easier if you have realistic expectations. Any success you experience will come easier if you map out a plan and actually work it! Knowing when you may have a set back also helps keep focus!
