Wow! It has been a year of uncertain and unbelievable events. The pandemic came out of nowhere and no one saw it coming until it actually came! My business was running and thriving one day, and the next day we were closed for a pandemic! The stress of not knowing what is coming next became overwhelming to some while others just seemed to roll with whatever came their way. Whatever route you took, the world seems to be returning slowly to a new normal.
One positive thing that happened for our family was that we got to spend lots of time together and really got to play games and get to know each other and reconnect with each other more than if the pandemic did not happen. This summer, our son is getting married so we really got to know his fiance’during the downtime of this disaster. Our daughter and her boyfriend were always up for a game, a movie or a project.
For some, however, the pandemic brought loss and devastation as family members disappeared from their lives permanently. Family members were admitted to the hospital and they had to go alone because no one was admitted in. Funerals had to happen with only 10 people and they all had to wear masks and not touch each other. These things that just a few weeks or months ago seemed impossible and were thought to never happen.
The pandemic has changed us forever in different ways, but it is time to return to some type of normal. We need structure and a daily routine. When we have a schedule, then we are more productive. We feel we have a purpose whether it is running a company, doing laundry, or gardening. As we return to our “new normal,” we need to figure out where we go from here. Consider, what you want to do well and what is important to you and your family as we start to recover.
